The joy of reading (and listening)!
Do you believe that listening to an audiobook is inferior to reading a book? I would have agreed with you a year ago. My love of physical books notwithstanding, I could not imagine having the same level of engagement with audio as I do with text. However, after almost a year of being unable to read print books, I have found a new appreciation for the audiobook and made my way back to print.
Resilient Resistance
In the context of organizational change, resilient resistance is the ability to continuously adapt to sustain the pressure necessary to influence systemic change. While conventional portrayals of resilience would have us believe that resilience is individual, in DEI work, we know collective resilience is foundational.
Three Simple Questions
Telling someone what to do breeds complacency and over-reliance on the existing system. Guiding someone to identify their own solutions inspires innovation and unleashes their confidence in their ability to create change. These three questions are my favorite inquiry tool for advising others.
Temporal Landmarks : Introducing Dr. Penn
I experienced two major life events in 2023 – the completion of my doctorate degree and the finalization of my divorce. Each ending corresponds with a change in my identity, most visibly, my name. This new title and name signify both a new beginning and a way to reclaim an important part of my history.
